Among the most famous and popular seaside resorts of the upper Adriatic Sea, Lignano Sabbiadoro is situated between the Marano Lagoon, the Tagliamento river and the sea. Originally known only with the name of Lignano, it consists of three areas, each one with its own characteristics: the old town centre, that is the “Lignano Sabbiadoro” proper, rich in restaurants and shops; the green area of “Lignano Pineta” with promenades and gardens; “Lignano Riviera” with its sparkling air and rich in maritime pines. The pedestrianised city centre, with typical restaurants and night clubs is the main tourist attraction, but the whole area around Lignano offers many opportunities of active life and relaxation.
Lignano’s thermal baths have been known for almost a century for the beneficial and curative effects of thermal treatments with sea water.
